America’s Got Talent Season 21 Quarterfinals 3 sent another four acts forward, but the biggest decision came before America’s Vote was counted. Fourteen-year-old Lai Noelle returned to the live stage with Elton John’s “Your Song,” drew the judges to their feet, and earned guest judge Kenan Thompson’s Live Golden Buzzer.
The following night, America’s Vote sent Kameron Marshall, Acro Canine Crew, and Daniel Alvarez into the Semifinals. Isaac Atkins and Guy Kelton Jones I reached the Top 5 but fell short of the final three public-vote spots, while Holland & Sienna, Maria, Elsie, Herwan Legaillard, and Pynk Beard were also eliminated.
The result left a magician, a dog-and-acrobatics act, and a stand-up comedian moving on through the public vote while Lai skipped the Semifinals entirely and moved directly to the Finals.

Golden Buzzer – Kenan Thompson
Lai Noelle stood almost motionless as “Your Song” began, letting the opening lines sit quietly before opening the vocal into the larger phrases of the chorus. The restraint made the room lean toward her rather than waiting for an immediate oversized moment.
By the final section, all four judges were reacting. Mel B reminded everyone that Lai was only 14 and called the place she was starting from “pure perfection.” Sofía Vergara said she already sounded like a major artist, while Howie Mandel told her that she was beyond her years.
Kenan Thompson had been waiting for a performance with the night’s “wow factor.” When Lai finished, he told Sofía to move back, reached for the Golden Buzzer, and filled the stage with confetti. The Live Golden Buzzer sent Lai directly to the Season 21 Finals.
Best Performances
Daniel Alvarez
Daniel Alvarez opened his Quarterfinal set by acknowledging exactly how difficult his competition had become. He joked about Lai Noelle receiving the Golden Buzzer, the popularity of the dog acts, and Rubén Roldán Bustos taking away Daniel’s chance to be the only contestant with a disability who could build jokes around it.
Daniel kept folding the competition itself into the material. He imagined teaming with Rubén as “two and a half legs,” recalled his nephew asking how he could perform stand-up comedy if he could not stand, and closed by pretending he might actually get out of his wheelchair before immediately admitting he was joking.
The room rose for him. Howie Mandel said Daniel had followed his callback advice and become slicker and funnier, while Sofía said there was not one joke that failed. Mel B said her cheeks hurt from laughing, and Kenan Thompson called Daniel the greatest comedian he had seen on a show like AGT. America’s Vote sent Daniel into the Semifinals.
Kameron Marshall
Kameron Marshall turned the entire theater into part of his card routine. Judges and audience members opened decks, cut them, shuffled them, turned sections face up, and isolated individual cards while Kenan Thompson mixed another deck at the judges’ table.
The first impossible moment came when Kameron and Kenan both revealed the eight of clubs. Then Sofía, Mel B, and Howie turned over their cards and showed the same selection. The effect widened again when audience members revealed matching cards throughout the theater.
Kameron saved the largest reveal for last. Cards that initially appeared incorrect in the first rows matched Kenan’s shuffled deck in exact sequence as he dealt through it. Sofía said Kameron had made the trick fun by involving everyone, Mel B said she did not want to understand how it worked, and Kenan called it one of the greatest magic tricks he had seen. Kameron advanced through America’s Vote.
Acro Canine Crew
Acro Canine Crew returned with an even busier mix of dogs, dancers, tumbling, and choreography set to “Walking on Sunshine.” Dogs jumped through the movement around them while the human performers flipped and danced without letting the routine collapse into chaos.
Sofía called the performance one of her favorites of the season and said the dogs looked as though they were having the best time onstage. Kenan praised the choreography and concept, while Mel B said the performers did not miss anything despite how much was happening at once.
Howie called it the best act of the night at that point and said the group checked every box: dogs, acrobatics, dancing, energy, and an act that made the audience smile from beginning to end. America’s Vote carried Acro Canine Crew into the Semifinals.
Guy Kelton Jones I
Guy Kelton Jones I mixed spoken-word poetry, music, singing, history, faith, and social commentary into one of the night’s most unusual performances. His lines moved through images of judgment, protest, sacrifice, family, and the idea of leaving behind evidence that people had at least tried to change the world.
Howie rose and compared the experience to being taken to church, saying Guy had pushed spoken word beyond what previous AGT acts had done by incorporating music. Sofía praised the combination of poetry and singing, while Mel B said the words had left her choked up and crying.
Guy reached the Top 5 in America’s Vote but did not claim one of the final three Semifinal positions.
Pynk Beard
Pynk Beard returned with another original song and a full band behind him. The performance centered on a promise to give everything for love, with the repeated hook growing larger each time the band returned to it.
Kenan stood and said Pynk Beard had blown the roof off the theater despite performing late in a night filled with strong acts. Mel B again said he made her fall in love with a style of music she normally would not choose, while Sofía called him a seasoned performer.
Howie pointed to Pynk Beard’s years of writing for other artists and said it was finally time for him to become the star himself. Despite that response, Pynk Beard was eliminated before the Top 5.
Biggest Surprises
Isaac Atkins Reaches the Top 5 but Falls Short
Isaac Atkins leaned into the low end of his voice on “Way Down We Go,” giving the performance a dark, heavy sound before pushing into the larger passages of the chorus.
Mel B praised the depth and grit in the voice that had earned her audition Golden Buzzer. Howie agreed that Isaac had an exceptional instrument but wanted to hear more of his range, and Kenan Thompson made a similar point about needing an additional wow factor at this stage of the competition.
Isaac still reached the Top 5 in America’s Vote, but the final announcement sent Daniel Alvarez forward and ended Isaac’s Season 21 run.
Guy Kelton Jones I Misses the Semifinals After a Huge Judge Reaction
Few acts received stronger verbal feedback than Guy Kelton Jones I. Howie called him his favorite act of the night at that point, Sofía called the performance beautiful and creative, and Mel B said it had moved her to tears.
That response was enough to make Guy one of the five highest vote-getters, but it was not enough for a Semifinal spot. He remained onstage beside Daniel Alvarez and Isaac Atkins as Terry Crews announced the final result, with Daniel taking the last available position.
Elsie’s Live Show Brings Back the Judges’ Earlier Concern
Elsie reshaped “House of the Rising Sun” around her voice, stretching phrases and changing the familiar melody enough that Sofía said she had never heard the song performed that way.
Howie felt the emotional shield he had noticed during Elsie’s audition had returned under the pressure of the Live Show. Mel B also thought the song was too safe for a voice she believed could deliver much more.
Elsie used the moment after the performance to thank the family members who had supported her through postpartum depression and helped her reach the AGT stage. She was eliminated in the first round of results.
Herwan Legaillard Splits the Panel
Herwan Legaillard combined sword swallowing with aerial positioning and increasingly difficult angles, repeatedly changing his body position while the sword remained part of the act.
Mel B was unconvinced that the danger translated visually and said the performance did not affect her the way she expected. Kenan had the opposite reaction and described what he had seen as extremely dangerous, while Sofía focused on Herwan’s personality and commitment to the act.
Howie still considered Herwan remarkable but preferred the audition. The divided reaction was followed by elimination in America’s Vote.
Acts Advancing to the Semifinals
Kameron Marshall, Acro Canine Crew, and Daniel Alvarez earned the three Quarterfinals 3 advancement positions decided by America’s Vote. Kameron transformed a card trick into a theater-wide prediction, Acro Canine Crew combined dogs and acrobatics in a larger live production, and Daniel turned his own Season 21 competition into material for a stand-up set that brought the room to its feet.
Lai Noelle did not have to wait for voting results. Kenan Thompson’s Live Golden Buzzer moved her past the Semifinals and directly into the Season 21 Finals.
What This Means for Season 21
Quarterfinals 3 reinforced how dramatically the Live Show format can separate judge reaction from voting results. Pynk Beard received enthusiastic praise from the entire panel and still missed the Top 5. Guy Kelton Jones I reached the Top 5 after one of the night’s strongest judge reactions but did not earn a Semifinal position.
The three acts chosen by America also covered completely different categories. Kameron Marshall advanced with interactive magic, Acro Canine Crew with family-friendly visual variety, and Daniel Alvarez with stand-up comedy. None relied on the same kind of audience connection.
Lai Noelle now joins the growing group of Live Golden Buzzer recipients already waiting in the Finals. The fourth and final Quarterfinal on September 8 will determine the remaining Semifinalists before Season 21 moves into its next stage.
Variety Spotlight
Quarterfinals 3 moved from aerial performance and sword swallowing to contortion, original country music, spoken word, stand-up comedy, vocal performances, card magic, dog training, tumbling, and aerial acrobatics.
Kameron Marshall showed how close-up-style magic can expand to a theater by putting cards into hundreds of hands, while Acro Canine Crew created visual movement through dogs, dancers, and tumblers working simultaneously. Herwan Legaillard and Maria relied on physical risk and body control, and Daniel Alvarez created one of the night’s biggest reactions with only a microphone and sharply timed jokes.
Booking Takeaways
Quarterfinals 3 featured stand-up comedy, interactive magic, trained dogs, acrobatics, aerial performance, sword swallowing, contortion, spoken word, original music, and solo vocals.
The audience reactions showed the different ways those categories can command a live room: Daniel Alvarez built laughs through personal storytelling, Kameron Marshall made the entire theater part of his magic, Acro Canine Crew filled the stage with constant visual movement, and Lai Noelle created a quieter focal point before her vocal built into the night’s Golden Buzzer moment.
