America’s Got Talent (AGT) consistently introduced audiences to hundreds of incredible magicians throughout its 17 seasons. They ranged from card magicians to mentalists and underwater escape artists, and many of them left us scratching our heads — in the best way possible.
One could easily say that the show’s best days are well behind it. However, we believe that there’s still room for more. As much as we welcome new talent to the show, it’s important not to forget the performers that made it for what it is.
We reminisce about some of the greatest magic performances in the show’s history. And for this reason, in this article, we decided to take a walk down memory lane and showcase some of the greatest magicians we would love to see perform again.
1. Jon Dorenbos
Jon Dorenbos was AGT Season 11’s 3rd place finalist. Part of his successful run on the show was due to his highly interactive approach to his acts. He always had a guest to help him perform his magic trick, which kindled a connection between him and the audience.
Jon is also known for his inspirational life story. As a child, he used magic to cope with the bad things he was going through at that moment. Later in his life, he achieved great success in his career in the NFL but had to retire after having a successful open-heart surgery. After that event, Jon decided to go back to his first big passion: magic.
And he hasn’t looked back ever since.

2. Mat Franco
The first magician ever to win NBC’s America’s Got Talent, Mat Franco made history when he took home the $1 million prize. What made his success even more impressive is that the Rhode Island native is almost entirely self-taught.
On the show, the audience loved him for his boy-next-door personality, his deep passion for magic, and his fascinating tricks. His performances focused solely on sleight of hand abilities and card magic, mixed with a dash of humor.
Since his victory in Season 9, Mat has made a few appearances on stage as a guest performer. However, we genuinely want to see him perform again as a contestant.
If all that you read about him piqued your interest, consider checking him out in the video below.
3. Landon Swank
Landon Swank was only seven years old when he discovered the mysterious world of magic. His determination and hard work did not take him long before he eventually landed on the AGT stage.
During the competition, audiences appreciated that his routines highlighted his warm personality and wit. His performances included card tricks and mind-blowing illusions like turning a cracker into a real goldfish or walking into a mirror.
He was eliminated in the Quarterfinals of the competition but was brought back into competition due to popular vote. Landon upped the ante with the second chance that he was given and eventually made it to the Finals.
You can watch Landon’s performance in the video below and see why we would love to see him perform again.
4. Collins Key
With more than 23 million subscribers, we wouldn’t be surprised if you recognized Collins Key from his successful YouTube channel. But before his career as a YouTuber, he was known as the pop star of magic.
The young performer started dabbling in the world of magic when he was only twelve years old. His big break came when he auditioned for AGT, season 8 (he was sixteen).
Throughout his journey on the show, Collins impressed the audiences with his unpredictable and wildly entertaining magic tricks, and he eventually made it to the finals.
Check out his performance in the clip below and see why he deserves a spot among the best for magic on America’s Got Talent.
5. Michael Grasso
Michael Grasso is deeply rooted in the magic community. He began studying the craft almost 30 years ago and has since been on a personal quest to create such realistic and powerful illusions that will leave the audience speechless.
Throughout his run on the show, Michael showcased his unique take on classic stage magic, which brought him international fame. He didn’t win the competition, but he was able to become one of the most beloved magicians that graced the AGT stage.
