Penn Jillette and Teller are two mind-blowing magicians who have been performing together for over 40 years. As they know just about all the techniques in the book, it’s safe to say they don’t fall for amateur tricks.
It takes a truly unique and inventive performance to impress the legendary duo. It’s no easy task, but the awesome magicians we’ve included in this article have managed to outsmart the wit of Penn and Teller. Keep reading to learn more about them.
Léa Kyle
Penn & Teller: Fool Us has seen many quick-change acts in the past, but none like the one magician Léa Kyle performed. Without hiding behind any curtains, the 25-year-old magically switched outfits, again and again, changing into several different dresses.
After the first couple of changes, it became evident that her performance would be out of the ordinary.
By combining the sewing skills that she acquired through Haute fashion training with dazzling magic, she created an unforgettable act that could outsmart both Penn and Teller.
Léa also appeared on the 16th season of America’s Got Talent in 2021, where she was the first magic act to receive the Golden Buzzer in the competition’s audition phase. If you would like to see more of her, check out the video below.
Ondřej Pšenička
Out of all the awesome magicians featured on the show, Ondřej Pšenička is probably the most efficient Fooler. He has managed to fool Penn & Teller a total of three times throughout the show’s seasons.
During his first appearance, he used his arsenal of magical skills and a little help from actress Alyson Hannigan to perform a simple card trick which left the hosts scratching their heads in disbelief.
In fact, for more than half of his performance, he just sat in Penn’s chair right next to Teller while Alyson did all the work for him.
Ondřej’s fascination with one-way decks resulted in him creating his card magic with butterfly design, which caught Penn’s eyes and helped him go home with the Fool Us trophy.
Vinny Grosso
Vinny Grosso is a top-tier illusionist, author, and one of the few awesome magicians who successfully managed to fool Penn & Teller for a second time. With a degree in Mechanical Engineering, he utilized his knowledge to create his original illusions, which he uses to entertain audiences worldwide.
What’s so special about Vinny is that he fooled the beloved duo in a very unexpected way.
Vinny stripped down completely naked on the show, taped his eyes shut, and performed a guessing trick, using only his sense of taste. Teller admitted that he had no idea how Vinny got the correct answer, and the naked magician was awarded the title of Fooler.
Siegfried Tieber
Armed with a charming accent and a joyful personality, Siegfried Tieber is a Los Angeles-based performer and one of the most comedic personalities to be featured on the show.
It’s not an easy task to perform close-up magic on a stage, for TV, and still, have it be genuinely fun and engaging, but for Siegfried – it comes naturally.
The magician had both Penn and Teller sit at a desk right next to him. With no smoke and no mirrors, the magician used a simple sleight-of-hand card trick that the hosts’ expert eyes weren’t able to catch – despite their best efforts to spot it.
They had to give up by the end since no matter how much they tried to guess how Siegfried did it, they couldn’t figure it out.
