A Grand Opening Event Like No Other
For the opening of the two-story Steelcase WorkLife Center showroom at One Peachtree Pointe, Steelcase celebrated the occasion with live music, hors d’oeuvres and performance art pieces by Joe Castillo. The event beautifully showcased Steelcase’s new showroom and lines of furniture while people were entertained by Joe’s stunning artworks that took shape as they watched. For the Steelcase Atlanta grand opening event, Joe created some magnificent caricatures of attendees that were shown on a nearby oversized monitor for gathered crowds.
Joe Castillo is an author, speaker, performer and artist who creates fluid, temporal artwork in real-time using colored grains of sand to assemble. “SandStories” are negative impressions on a lightboard, formed by selectively clearing away sand and sometimes adding bits back to create figures, portraits and allegorical scenes that he then captures using an overhead video camera and transfers onto a large-screen monitor or projection screen. Joe has created fascinating and elaborate sand artwork that has been seen by thousands of people, including Popes, Presidents, Kings, and world leaders in 26 countries since 2010. He is one of the premier artists working in this medium in the world, and he has performed for Fortune 500 companies, TED talks, CBS, NBC and the BBC. He became a finalist on America’s Got Talent. Joe is available worldwide for events and corporate engagements.
The Steelcase WorkLife Center is Steelcase’s new showroom for Atlanta, and this event marked the beginning of a new era for the company in the city. Interior designers, architects, and office environment specialists alike came together to see the latest designs from the enterprise. Steelcase promoted the event and associated photos of the evening to its network of resellers, showrooms and sales staff around the world. The Steelcase Atlanta grand opening event marks Steelcase’s eighth flagship showroom in the United States and its 10th worldwide. The company is extremely proud of its new Atlanta location and was thrilled with the overwhelmingly positive reaction to the grand opening.
