The Four Types of Comedians
“Hey hey hey! It’s twinkleberry568 here with a new installment of my comedy series, How to Make People Laugh 101!” That would never fly in the entertainment industry, would it? Of course not! To climb the ladder of success, you have to have a plan and formula for how to get there. Not to mention, somewhat of a professional appeal, especially if you’re a comedian. But in the world of comedy what exactly is that appeal supposed to be? There are so many different types of comedians, yet they all seem to be telling the same jokes. Well, we have two things to say to that. The first being, comedy should never sound the same! Where have you been looking? Every comedian should have their own personal style that engages the audience in a captivating way. Second off, believe it or not, there are many different types of comedians. Do you still not understand or believing us? Well, allow us to explain to you what we’re talking about, so you never have to end up with a bland comedian ever again.
The Stand-up Comedian
You know that student that used to just walk into class without reading the book and participated in class discussion without a hitch? And then they would write the most eloquently written paper the teacher had ever seen and received an A+ without even trying. Sound familiar? Yep, that’s the stand-up comedian. To them, everything can be made into a joke, no matter how small…or serious (which is probably sometimes a downfall). Anyways, a prime example of this hilarious comedian is America’s Got Talent’s very own Tom Cotter. With his witty commentary and sarcastic remarks, Cotter can make anything and everything funny. From Disney princesses to college, there’s always something to laugh at. His effortless blend of relatability and humor make him one of the best comedians out there. No matter what the event, Tom Cotter is sure to be a crowd favorite.
The Ventriloquist Comedian
Do you like to laugh? Do you like Toy Story? Do you like puppets? Well, then the ventriloquist comedian is for you! Now, hear me out, I know not everyone likes puppets, especially since they seem to remind people of the plot of some terrifying horror movie (yeah, I don’t understand either), but they’re very entertaining…if you are exposed to the right one, that is. But in a world of fake comedians, who is the real deal? Well, we’ve got that one covered…Taylor Mason is one of the most skilled and hilarious ventriloquists out there! From Pacho the Pig to Romeo the teenage boy (there’s a lot of humor there, as we all know), Mason’s ability to make the audience roar with laughter is untouchable by almost anyone else in his division of comedy. Are you starting to see the difference between the different types of comedians?
The Relatable Comedian
Parents of teens…this one is for you. While we can’t do anything to ease the tension when your oldest learn to drive, or when your youngest decides to start their bank account with your money, we can help you find the humor in it. Well, not us exactly, but Jeff Allen. That’s right, Allen is the relatable comedian because every parent has felt that same sense of dread when they decide to teach their teenager to drive…the only time they decide to teach their teenager to drive. And every husband understands that moment when their wife comes home and doesn’t tell them to do something, but they are telling them to do something. Sound familiar? Anyways, all that to say, if you need someone to connect with the audience on another level that doesn’t include knock-knock jokes, Jeff Allen is the person you’ve been looking for.
The Younger Generation Comedian
Have you ever listened to a millennial speak and thought about how much money they would make if they actually decided to do something other than drink green tea and do yoga all day? Well, Jon Crist is that millennial…who makes fun of other millennials. Yes, Crist is the hilarious twenty-something young man that realizes how funny the first world problems of his generation are. His talent is quite simple; he’ll mock millennials alongside you, and make it fun. With his sense of humor, his comedy will never get old, because he knows that no matter what anybody tells him, he is a very special human being and he deserves it…
So How Was That?
Do you understand the differences between the different types of comedians now? How about the different ones? An even more important question…did you find the one that resonates with you and your next event? Comedy is one of the largest fields in the entertainment business, but it is equally one of the hardest ones to excel in. However, the four previously mentioned have absolutely no problem rising to the occasion at every event! So what are you waiting for? Go check them out today!
